Michelle ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Michelle Chesner <[email protected]> Date: Thu, Mar 22, 2012 at 9:26 AM Subject: Call for poster proposals at AJL Conference (Pasadena, June 2012) To: [email protected] *Call for Poster Session Proposals for the Association of Jewish Librarians' Conference in Pasadena in June:* **** For the first time in quite a while, AJL is inviting poster sessions for the 2012 convention in Pasadena. This is a great opportunity for students and librarians to network and meet professional librarians (and potential mentors or supervisors), and to share their research and/or works in progress. The posters will be on display in the exhibit room. **** Presentations will be considered that fit one of these broad categories (as applied to both RAS and SSC libraries): * Recently completed research in the field * New and innovative library projects in Judaica libraries * Imaginative, systematic efforts at resolving problems in Judaica libraries Poster sessions place an expert about a given topic directly in front of conference attendees, many of whom will find great value in the ability to speak with the presenter. There is no limit to the range of subjects that can be presented as a poster; any topic can be arranged and displayed in a visually interesting manner. It is a wonderful opportunity to share any research that you are currently working on (or thinking about) and is a good opportunity to meet others who may be interested in similar work. Parameters for Presentation: Poster sessions will fit on a tri-fold 36' x 48' poster board and convey the subject using a combination of graphics, narrative text, and handouts. Electronic posters are also accepted. There is wifi in the hotel, as well as plugs near the tables where the posters will be presented, but presenters will have to bring their own laptops. There will be designated times for the presenter(s) to be in attendance to answer questions and elaborate on the presentation topic. We hope to be able to preserve the posters on the AJL website. * ***** Please email a 100-200 word abstract of your poster session proposal to Michelle Chesner ([email protected]) by *May 1, 2012.* Include author name(s), email and telephone contact numbers, and the title of the poster session. The successful candidates will be notified by mid-May. **** For some helpful poster pointers, check the “poster presentations” tab on the LibGuide at http://stjohns.campusguides.com/researchpresentation and here: http://colinpurrington.com/tips/academic/posterdesign.
