What I had been concerned about is now official.  The new Board of Directors at
Shulamith has determined that the librarian position needs to be cut in order
to maintain the budget.  The principal (a believer in the importance of
libraries) who told me the news is going to request that I remain on the
faculty for one day a week in the coming school year, but he is not sure of
success.

I know I am in good company, as librarians everywhere are seeing their
positions eliminated.  My efforts to obtain another position have not as yet
been fruitful, but perhaps something will materialize now that there is no
longer an alternative.

Thank you for listening.

Mrs. Basya Karp, AMLS
Librarian
Shulamith High School and Shulamith School For Girls of Brooklyn
