One of my favourite graphic novels of all time is Will Eisner's Dropsie Avenue : The Neighbourhood (reprinted in The Contract with God Trilogy).
The stories show how the neighbourhood changes and evolves from one generation to the next. Which ethnicities make up the narrative? Dutch, English, Irish, Jews (religious and assimilated), Italian Catholics, African Americans, Puerto Ricans. One of the important characters is a disabled girl in a wheelchair who - towards the end - helps the neighbourhood thrive again after years of neglect. http://www.willeisner.com/library/dropsie-avenue.html B'shalom, Steven M.
