Temple Rodef Shalom, a large Reform congregation, in Falls Church, Virginia seeks an energetic, creative, self-starter to serve as Temple Librarian. The library occupies a prominent place in the synagogue, has a diverse print collection of Jewish books for both children and adults and serves as a place of learning and gathering for an active congregation of 1,500 families.
This position is part-time, approximately 15 hours/week, $25.00/hour. The Temple librarian will be expected to independently: · Manage collection development and acquisitions within a limited budget to support the needs of Temple staff and congregants. · Provide all technical services, including cataloging, classification, circulation, collection maintenance, and managing donations · Create library programs and exhibits for children and adults · Plan and execute migration from a card catalog to online catalog · Work with Temple webmaster to create a library homepage Qualifications and Requirements: · Must have or be working towards a Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school · Collection maintenance and cataloging experience · Knowledge of automated library systems.
