Subject: Oral history training in Jerusalem

The Oral History Division of The Avraham Harman Institute of Contemporary Jewry 
at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem holds bi-annually a semester course to 
provide training for students and professionals working in the field of oral 
history. The purpose of the course is to train individuals interested in 
conducting interviews as part of the research or professional lives and give 
them knowledge and training in the preservation of oral history interviews. The 
next workshop will be held on Wednesdays from 7 November 2012 to 2 January 2013 
from 9:30-14:30 at the Yad Ben Zvi Institute, Jerusalem.

  

Objectives of the Course:

 

To give students knowledge and training of conducting interviews.

To give students the historical background to their projects and help students 
develop a critical stance when approaching oral history sources.

To give students the tools to work with oral history sources in different 
frameworks and setting: for example: education, museums, genealogical work.

 

Who is the course aimed at?

 

The course is aimed at all individuals who work with oral history

* Students and researchers

* Teachers and people employed in the educational system.

* People employed in organizations for new immigrants and those interested 
parties in immigrant communities.

* Archivists and librarians

* Social workers and community workers.
