I use OPALS. It's definitely time-consuming and challenging to learn a new system but well worth it, I believe. We were already automated but needed to switch to another program to go online. I love having a "portal" to our library and try to use it as our library website. Though the synagogue has a page for the library, I don't have quick control over it and I can't really use it freely. I can't say whether the online catalog increases circulation or use, but my hope is that it gives us more visibility, something to promote, and keeps it accessible. It's also a statement that it's 2013 now and we have caught up with the rest of the world! For better or worse, the value of a library cannot always be counted!
