We recently hosted a screening of the film "REFUGE: Stories of the Selfhelp Home" and the director, Ethan Bensinger, joined us for a talk-back. The film is a warm and moving exploration of the Holocaust through the voices of some of its last survivors. Through narrative by historians, archival footage and personal testimony, the one-hour HD documentary traces the lives of six survivors and refugees, and tells the story of a little known community in Chicago that has given refuge to more than 1,000 victims of Nazi persecution from Central Europe since the war.

There is no cost to show the film, but depending on the location, a library or synagogue may be asked to cover Ethan's travel expenses if they wish him to present the film and lead a discussion.
