REGISTER for The 10th Columbia Libraries Symposium

THEME: Trending... New Opportunities in the Evolving Academy

DESCRIPTION: Higher education is changing and libraries are too.
Libraries are being re-imagined not only to keep pace with evolving
scholarly needs but also to provide leadership in addressing broader
institutional challenges presented by the transforming academic
enterprise. Libraries seeking to re-position themselves within this
dynamic landscape are taking a critical look at professional practices
within their organizations, and the results are sometimes innovative,
sometimes radical, and always engaging.

On Friday, March 22nd, 2013, the Columbia University Libraries Symposium
will look deeply into the many factors shaping this emerging academic
landscape, and libraries' changing roles within it, from the
perspective of scholars and librarians active in transformative change.
Our goal is to test our thinking, to challenge traditional paradigms of
professional practice, and to provide a focused reflective discussion on
how libraries are positioning themselves as campus change agents.

SPEAKERS will include:

Malcolm Brown, Director, EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative
Marta Brunner, Head of Collections, Research, and Instructional
Services, Charles E. Young Research Library, UCLA
Tracy Gabridge, Department Head for Liaisons for Departments, Labs, and
Centers, MIT Libraries
Roger Schonfeld, Director of Research, ITHAKA S+R

FACULTY panelists will include:
