4-week eCourse
Beginning Monday, May 6, 2013

To create media-rich presentations and lessons, librarians and educators often
turn to content created by others, wading into the murky waters of copyright.
In this eCourse expert educator Butler will guide you through the specific
applications of U.S. copyright law common to workshops, lesson plans,
tutorials, and other presentations. You will learn how to assert your "fair
use" rights, and also how to efficiently seek permission from rights holders
when necessary. For reference during and after the course, your purchase
includes the PDF version of Butler's Copyright for Teachers and Librarians in
the 21st
Century<http://ala-publishing.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0zMDU2NTE1JnA9MSZ1PTEwMzEzNTcyOTEmbGk9MTU5MTI4NTk/index.html>.

After participating in this eCourse, you will be able to:

  * Explain the "fair use doctrine" and the four criteria which determine
"fair use"
  * Interpret copyright law in terms of various presentation media
  * Obtain permission or licenses to use various copyright-protected media
  * Navigate and submit internet release forms
Rebecca P. Butler is a Presidential Teaching Professor in the Department of

copyright, she is the author of Copyright for Teachers and Librarians in the
