Sunday, March 30 Shlemiel Crooks, a Passover Story in Words and Music. Come to Bankstreet Bookstore and meet Anna Olswanger (me), author of the children's book Shlemiel Crooks, and Clay Zambo, the lyricist for "Shlemiel Crooks—A Musical." Kids and their families can enjoy the story, learn several songs, and hear about the musical version of the book, to be performed the following week at New York's Merkin Concert Hall. Sunday, April 6 Kaufman Music Center presents "Shlemiel Crooks—A Musical." A boy and his dog stop the ghost of Pharaoh from ruining Passover in this whimsical, warm-hearted family musical based on the children's books Shlemiel Crooks and Chicken Bone Man by author Anna Olswanger (me again). Narrated by Jerry, the family dog, and featuring a couple of dimwitted crooks named Burt and Ernie, this hilarious musical is about the importance of family loyalty and the need to follow your dreams: 11:00 a.m., $20.
