One Yellow Daffodil by David A. Adler tells the story of Morris Kaplan, a
lonely, elderly survivor who owns a flower shop. His store is visited every
week by Jonathan and Ilana, two children who are buying flowers for Shabbos.
When the brother and sister surprise Morris by coming on a Tuesday, they tell
him that they are buying flowers for Chanukah, which begins tonight. An
invitation to spend the first night with Jonathan and Ilana's family begins a
wonderful new chapter in Morris' life and an end to his loneliness.
