Additionally, the S.Y. Agnon Library Series under The Toby Press recently released "From Foe to Friend & Other Stories". This is a new English-language graphic novel of Agnon's very popular Hebrew book, featuring tales most beloved by Israeli children. It is the first time Hebrew literature's only Nobel laureate has had his stories rendered in graphic form. The three tales in "From Foe to Friend & Other Stories", which retain Agnon's original prose, are illustrated by Shay Charka, a popular Israeli caricaturist and comics author. Drawn in a brilliant style, Charka's illustrations are themselves a form of "midrash" on Agnon's prose. The keen reader will find visual echoes of Marc Chagall and Edvard Munch, alongside Bob Dylan and Rav Kook.
