To the Holocaust Remembrance Day, I have prepared a small article, or essay, about my uncle, Israel Berman, a Polish Jew and a Math teacher. In 1940, he received Sugihara Visa, then traveled to Riga, which was occupied by the Nazis. For 3 years, he was in hiding, underground, until in 1944, he was captured by Riga's police and sent to the concentration camp at Stuffhof, where he was exterminated.
