Hello safranim: I am happy to report that Jewish libraries are not always disappearing-I am helping the powers that be at American Jewish University to set up a new Jewish Community Library of Los Angeles, which will located on the campus of the AJU. We are looking for other community library mission statements or vision statements if they can share them, because we want to write our own with an idea of what others do. If anyone feels inclined to share, please email me privately and I will pass it along. (Even synagogue library mission statements will be of interest, so please feel free to send them.)
