Dear AJL members,
I wanted to send you a quick note to let you know about an exciting new
project from Jewish Book Council's JBC Book Clubs department that I hope
will be of interest to you. The National Jewish Book Club is complimentary
program that offers an exciting, accessible way to discover a new favorite
book or re-read an old one.

For this first year, Jewish Book Council has selected 16 titles, both
fiction and non-fiction, from the breadth of Jewish literature. The
books—current, classic, and everything in between—were carefully selected
for their quality, their potential for interesting conversation, and the
variety that they represent. The titles are presented in a beautiful book
club guide with information on each book and discussion questions.

The National Jewish Book Club is designed to encourage readers and book
groups to engage with the program in the way that suits them best. Book
groups can choose how many of the suggested titles they wish to read and in
what order, plus they also have the option of connecting with selected
authors online through the JBC Live Chat program whenever possible.

Additionally, JBC will facilitate six online conversation each year. These
conversations will create their own national book club and also serve as a
supplement to a book club's individual reading. The first conversation is
coming up soon; join us on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 8:15 pm EST/5:15 pm PST as
we talk with Molly Antopol, the author of *The UnAmericans*!

If you'd like more information, please visit
www.jewishbookcouncil.org/bookclub/national-jewish-book-club.

And of course, JBC Book Clubs' regular programs are all available, from
book recommendations and support in starting a book club to video chats
with any of over 400 authors and assistance in locating or creating
discussion questions.

Please feel free to be in touch with any questions or anything that I can
do to assist book clubs at your library.

Thanks!
Miri
