Library Media Specialist The Rashi School, the Boston Area's Reform Jewish Independent School, seeks a Library Media Specialist for the 2015-2016 academic year. This position will be 4-5 days/week. Duties include: - Library management: Daily operation of the library including management of the budget including generating purchase orders/invoices for print acquisitions, supplies, memberships, and electronic resources; entry and maintenance of all patron and holdings data; performing an inventory of the collection as needed; updating the library homepage - Preparation of lessons (literacy and informational skills with emphasis on digital citizenship and intellectual property) for grades K-5 while incorporating current and emerging technologies; additional lessons/space provision for grades 6-8 as requested - Support for research-requirements by grade; assisting in the classroom as well as offering the library space; working with individual students and small groups - Providing professional development for new faculty/staff as well as ongoing professional development; teacher collaboration - Joining professional organizations-Massachusetts School Library Association; Massachusetts Library System (Board of Library Commissioners); CLA (Greater Boston Cooperative Library Association)-independent school librarians; AJL (Association of Jewish Libraries) and NEAJL (New England Association of Jewish Libraries); attending meetings and/or conferences when possible - Creating displays on the bulletin board outside the library as well as timely displays within the library space; providing promotions and incentives; preparing author visit(s); generating newsletter notifications to families about literacy events at Rashi and in the greater community; assembling a summer reading list to be located on the library homepage - Welcoming and supporting volunteers from NewBridge on the Charles (Hebrew Senior Life) - Integrating Jewish texts including Torah and those relating to Jewish holidays into lessons and visual display DurationcontractSalary RangeNot PostedBenefitspaid vacation, sick leave, maternal/paternal leave, medical, dental, retirement plans, leave early for ShabbatPreferred Experience2 Years ExperiencePreferred DegreeBachelorsJob Posted On2015-01-06Times this job has been viewed116 timesJob is posted for60 daysJob CategoriesEducation - OtherJob FocusLibrary, Education & SchoolsOrganization NameThe Rashi School <https://jewishjobs.com/jobs/employer/24489>Job Location8000 Great Meadow Road Dedham, Massachusetts United States
