I normally wouldn't say anything in a situation like this, as I hope that people get their books published and the books are purchased; however, University Press of America isn't a well respected publisher (and this situation convinces me, given that the book won't be printed unless there are a significant number of pre-purchases). It's one of the 3 or 4 academic publishers from whom I don't buy anything. This one isn't terribly expensive...some publishers are very expensive for dubious quality. I would just say beware.
