I recently got to thinking about how much better we could do as a small niche publisher were we to work on marketing in partnership with other intentionally short-list Jewish-content publishing houses (not individual self-publishers--which would be a different group). The stimulus for this arose when our Mitzvah Stories: Seeds for Inspiration and Learning <http://reclaimingjudaism.org/node/242> crossed the threshold of 11,000 copies sold, which was about the same day this year that our fall 2014 release New Mitzvah Stories for the Whole Family <http://reclaimingjudaism.org/node/537> crossed the 5800 copies sold threshold. Even an award-winning series like this needs to be much more visible given its goal of ensuring there are contemporary Jewish values, many kinds of families and gender equality available in Jewish stories. Wishing we could afford to get our list out to more of the book events/festivals and conferences, I called Ron Duncan Hart of Gaon Books (admire Gaon publications so much!) and as we shared tips with each other, we agreed it's time for a new consortium of "the little guys" with the thought of sharing costs /coverage of a table at major conference s , full-page ads, etc. (Example: $1800 minimum for URJ shuk table, $2500 or so for GA, etc. plus union labor costs on the floor, shipping, etc. ) Feel free to share and be in touch , if of interest : with gratitude from a new list member.
