The criteria hasn't changed but with the greater use of Internet materials for research and more databases online, there is less of a reason to hold onto old musty secular materials. Also use the school's mission statement as a guide and your circulation statistics. If no one has read the book in 3-5 years and no teacher is going to assign it, clear it off your shelves.
