The 1923 Yiddish operetta "Di goldene kale" (The Golden Bride) by Joseph
Rumshinsky will be presented at Rutgers University in a concert performance
with full orchestra on Wednesday evening August 5. This will be the first
performance with orchestra of the work in about 70 years and the first such
performance of a work from the Golden Age of the Yiddish-American musical in
more than half a century. I will be giving a pre-concert talk. Tickets go on
sale shortly. Details of the performance at
http://www.masongross.rutgers.edu/content/yiddish-operetta-di-goldene-kale-golden-bride-closes-out-2015-mason-gross-summer-series.
The operetta will be published by the American Musicological Society in its
series "Music in the United States of America (MUSA). Apologies for
cross-posting.
