Dear Colleagues,

Here is a blast from the past and a nice coincidence. We joined a
Conservative congregational group here in Seattle which meets monthly for
social
and educational get-togethers. We'd been with them a while before we met a
couple who live in Seattle part time only...the Kurlands. When I told Jon
what I had done for a living and remarked that his last name held meaning for
me, he verified that he was, indeed, Mildred's son. He was and is delighted
to know that she is still remembered by some in our ranks.

We've seen the Kurlands many times since then. When recently he said, with
much regret, that he had no copy of Mildred's work, I offered HaSafran as
a possible solution for him. I hope one or more of you can help and I'm
sure someone can benefit from the important books he's also giving away.

Best regards from Seattle,
Rita Frischer

Rita,

Please forward this message to your old library associates.

My name is Jonathan Kurland. I’m the son of Mildred Kurland who
co-authored

Weine Classification Scheme for Judaica Libraries
and Subject Headings for a Judaica Library
by Mae Weine and Mildred Kurland

I’m trying to get copies of these books as part of our family heritage,
especially if my mother is listed as an author of that edition.

We’re downsizing and, before I discard some of my father’s history books,
I thought I’d try to find a home for them. I’m willing to mail them at
my expense.
