Dear Colleagues, I am delighted to announce that Haim Gottschalk has joined the Library of Congress staff as a Librarian in the Israel and Judaica Section, Asian and Middle Eastern Division. Haim is a graduate of Yeshiva College, Yeshiva University, and holds an M. Ed./B. Lit. from the Fingerhut School of Education, American Jewish University, and an M.L.S. from the School of Library and Information Science, Indiana University. He brings many years of diverse Jewish educational and library experience to the position, including most recently as a cataloger of Hebrew and Yiddish materials at the Herman B. Wells Library, Indiana University (Bloomington). As many of you know, Haim is extremely active in the profession of Hebraica and Judaica librarianship. He has given numerous presentations at AJL conferences and other venues and was the co-chairperson of the 2007 AJL conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. Haim is currently the Chairperson of the Library Education Committee of AJL. Haim has contributed to professional journals and received numerous grants in support of his research. With Brian Horowitz, he is the co-editor of Yiddish Modernism: Studies in Twentieth-Century Eastern European Jewish Culture by Seth L. Wolitz. Please join me in welcoming Haim to the Library of Congress and congratulating him on his new appointment.
