I know that our dear friend and coleague Olga Potap has made a report last year in the conference and this resulted in warm response from Lynn Waghalter, (Librarian Beldon Library, 12500 NW Military Hwy. San Antonio, TX 78231) who kindly donnated three boxes of books (one is still on the way) http://vilnius-jewish-public-library.com/2016/02/11/biblioteka-dovanu-gavo-puikiu-knygu-siuntini/ And https://www.facebook.com/JFSATX/posts/10153565633887620?comment_id=10153567718637620&comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R%22%7D The purpuse to participate in the 51st conference is to try to make an even more exhaustive presentation of our library activities, its hisotry and goals in the present day Lithuanian sočiety and in the world. To tell about our partners, the pojects we are involved or we intiated. This covers the establishment of Vilinius Jewish Public Library Charity and Support Foundations as well as Vilnius Jewish Theater. We try to be a vivid and noticed cultural center and I‘d dare say that we in a way suceeded and we don‘t want to stop. Also, we are very clear about us being a library and we care very much about the growth of our book collection. We are happy we were lucky to persuade the Government to establish the library and it was brave from its side because in 2011 it was still in the context of economic crisis the state institutions were dealing with and all around only financial cuts and austerity measures used to be taken while we had our opening and financing to run the library after a very good reconstruction of a very neglected premises. But we had to remain with no financing for book acquisition accounting on donatios only ... That is way I would be very thankfull if I coudl get an invitation to the conference for the purposes to raise funds to cover my travel expenses. If is is possible I would take advantage of getting at least partial financing from the conference organizers. Thank you for reading my letter and I am always ready to give all the possible details and answers to whtever questions about our library and my purposes of visit. Shabbat Shalom!
