The World Memory Project provides a great opportunity to teach middle and high
school students something about databases using primary source materials from
the Shoah.
The US Holocaust Memorial Museum has digitized a lot of documents relating to
individuals during the Holocaust. Using software developed by Ancestry.com,
students can key in the information from the documents into a searchable
database.
I think it's a great opportunity to incorporate instruction about databases
with Jewish content that uses primary source materials and also makes a real
contribution to expanding the database.
