Our large synagogue library (22k items) loans to anyone in the community
(Cincinnati area).This includes mainly members of other congregations where
they have very small libraries, and also college students for research about
topics on which we have a lot of material. Our collection of DVD's is probably
the most borrowed item by members of other synagogues. They simply fill out a
form w/ their contact information, etc. and we enter them into our patron
database. These borrowers are really appreciative. There have been a few
times when non-members "disappeared" and materials were not returned (or paid
for). Once I had to call the dean of students of a local college when the
borrower did not respond to repeated calls for return of materials which she
