I heard from the school librarian at the school of our children that this was a nice part of her “budget” - just people giving on these occasions Good luck, Shoshanah From: Hasafran [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rachel Haus Sent: Tuesday, June 07, 2016 10:12 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ha-Safran] Grant/Funding ideas for a small synagogue library Dear Hasafranim, I am in the all too recognizable position of having to scramble for funding and donations after my budget has been slashed to, really, next to nothing. I think one of my options is to start charging overdue fees, though I'm reluctant due to logistics. I'm even more reluctant to start charging membership fees. I have enough trouble getting people through the door as it is. Nevertheless, anyone have any experience with these ideas for a small congregation? Another option is fundraising. I already put on a major used booksale once a year and that brings in a couple hundred. Any other ideas out there for a library director with no staff and a congregation stretched thin with other fundraisers going on? My final option would be some sort of grant, though I'm only aware of grants that cover one-time events. Any ideas for a synagogue library in the Midwest?
