The Central Queens Y, with much sadness, announces that we are disbanding the Jewish Heritage Library. This was a difficult choice, but the building is bursting at the seams and library use was declining.
At the same time, our very full schedule of programs will continue or expand, with author events, film screenings, and classes. I am not leaving the Y, but the library will close by the end of this month. We are trying to find the best home for our excellent 15,000 book collection or for sections of it. PLEASE REPLY QUICKLY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN COMING TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE COLLECTION OR TALKING BY PHONE. I have included my cell phone below since I am not in every day. Please reply as soon as possible, as we are under a deadline and will be selling books the week after next, at which point the value of the different sections will be much diminished. We do NOT have a list of books or an online catalog. Books would need to be picked up. The library has been kept reasonably up to date and is an excellent core collection. It includes a wide range of Jewish points of view, from secular to Orthodox. While we'd love to find one home for the whole library, we are open to institutions (or individuals) taking different sections.
