To help with Michelle Sandler's question, I would recommand to all Safranim the French database "Rachel" (http://sifrix3.sdv.fr/F/?func=find-b-0&con_lng=eng) This union catalogue gives you access to more than 250,000 records (books, periodicals, manuscripts, archives, musical recordings, videos,...), and also to many digitized items, from the main French Jewish libraries : Alliance israélite universelle, Séminaire israélite de France, Maison de la culture Yiddish/Bibliothèque Medem, Médiathèque du Musée d'Art et d'histoire du judaïsme, Institut européen des musiques juives (IEMJ). The latter is specialized in everything musical, for example, a request on "Adon Olam" provides 257 answers. Musical recordings are, according to copyrights, partially available online.
