I often struggle with how much information I feel capable of taking in and the need to know what is happening. But I cannot look away. We cannot. We must witness this atrocity and respond. Even when it seems hopeless or ineffectual, our words matter. We must speak out in any way we can and in any forum to anyone who will listen––which is how I think about prayer. I don't know who or what is listening on the other end, but I must speak, I must cry out. That's why I'm grateful that so many new prayers have found a home at Ritualwell giving voice to the agony and moral outrage that so many of us feel.
