Dear AJL members - thanks to an initiative by the Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw, we are able to offer a FREE hardcover copy of the award-winning book, The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond Bravery by Captain Witold Pilecki, to libraries, schools, holocaust museums and study centers. We have several dozen copies available, and they will be sent to you on a first come, first serve basis.
This book is the first time that Pilecki's most comprehensive eyewitness report on his secret undercover mission at Auschwitz has been published in English. The Chief Rabbi of Poland wrote the Foreword, and Professor Norman Davies wrote the Introduction. The New York Times Sunday Book Review called The Auschwitz Volunteer "a historical document of the greatest importance." It is an essential primary source for every holocaust collection. Among the many other recognitions this book has received, shortly after its release it was the focus of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day event at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. If you do not already have this book in your collection and would like a copy, please let me know. Email me with your name, title, organization, address and phone, and we will send the book out to you, totally free of charge. You can watch the trailer at www.polww2.com/AuschwitzVolunteerTrailer<http://www.polww2.com/AuschwitzVolunteerTrailer>, and find more information about this book at www.polww2.com/AboutAuschwitzVolunteer<http://www.polww2.com/AboutAuschwitzVolunteer>.
