Hi Heidi, I was not able to open the entire article while traveling in Israel. However I wanted to let you know that my Baghdadi in-laws spoke Judeo-Arabic at home and a friend who escaped Iraq at age 5 had his mouth stuffed with pita when crossing the border so as not to reveal that they were Jews.
When I was at Columbia in the 1970s there a a Judeo-Arabic textbook or dictionary in the stacks. I wonder if it’s still there.
