Abby FineReader It works with Hebrew. Not sure about the quality, as I didn't use it for a while, but I suppose they got better :) Uri Sent from Nine<http://www.9folders.com/> ________________________________ From: Heidi G Lerner via Hasafran <hasafran@lists.osu.edu> Sent: Saturday, December 22, 2018 7:35 AM To: hasaf...@lists.service.ohio-state.edu Subject: [ha-Safran] Fw: Hebrew OCR I am posting this on behalf of a young friend of mine (some parts have been omitted) who is interested in getting some current information on Hebrew OCR. I am in a Hebrew-related conundrum .... I have on my hands a 300+ page Hebrew-language dissertation on ... (the topic of my senior Honors thesis at Tufts), which I was gifted kindly by its author at Hebrew University. Unfortunately, the author refused to give me a digital copy (perhaps due to fear of plagiarism?) so I have scanned the whole paper copy to take home over vacation. I recently realized I’d be able to use the work best if OCR’d (read digitally) and translated, at least roughly, so that I can understand which sections are most important to read in the original. I don’t, however, have Adobe Premium, and all other OCR services (at least those I’ve used so far!) seem not to really work on Hebrew texts. Do you have suggestions for an OCR or OCR/translation app/website that can handle Hebrew, ideally in large quantities? If not for your own personal use, do you know what students in the field use? Any help is appreciated! ...
