Hello, I am a PhD student in Linguistics at Northwestern University and am currently recruiting participants for a research study documenting language and life in the Jewish community in Chicagoland. I would really appreciate it if you could spread the word to anyone who may be interested. See below for more information:
*Jewish Language in Chicagoland Research Study* We are currently recruiting participants (age 18+) who grew up and currently live in the Chicago metro area, speak American English, and identify as Jewish to take part in an online experiment, followed by an optional in-person interview. The online experiment is available at https://tinyurl.com/JewishLangChi/ *.* It involves a listening task and demographic survey and should take no more than 20 minutes. After the online experiment, participants will have the option to sign up for an in-person interview. We are interested in your experiences growing up and living in Chicagoland, as well as your thoughts about language as it relates to Jewishness, Chicago, and the United States more broadly. We will also ask you to read a short passage and word list. Our interviews are audio-recorded and generally free-flowing, though we do have some general questions, and can be conducted at Northwestern or another quiet location that is convenient to you. They will take roughly an hour, depending on how much you would like to share with us. Individuals who participate in an in-person interview will be compensated $15 for their time and effort.
