I got back late last night from ALA Annual Conference and now have the time to express my appreciation to Jackie, Lisa, and the entire LA Planning Committee for a truly fabulous, intellectually stimulating, and enjoyable 2019 AJL Conference. As others have said, the sessions were top-notch as were the tours. These events take an amazing amount of skill, energy, strategizing, and precise coordination and timing to pull off. Everything at the LA Conference was carried out so well that the difficulty involved in making it all work seemed virtually invisible; the conference seemed to be an organic phenomenon, but the hard work and endless hours that Lisa and Jackie and their fantastic team put into this over so many months is the reason it came off so flawlessly!
And Zachary, thank you for your very kind words. I also want to say--and I know there are many in AJL who agree--that I miss your presence at AJL conferences and the erudite and endlessly informative and engaging presentations you brought to the Annual Conference for so many years. Despite your being retired, I hope that you will be able attend at least some of the future annual get-togethers. In the meantime, have a great summer and enjoy your well-earned retirement!
