2 points:

1. The link to the Algemeiner article didn't take me to the article, but
to the website. Can you send the correct link?
2. California isn't the only state where this is a problem. If people read
Tablet, they will perhaps have seen Liel Leibovitz's July 18th article,
"Teaching High School Students to Demonize Israel", about the ongoing
struggle with the Newton, Massachusetts, school board, which has
stonewalled parents objecting to a curriculum on the Middle East that has,
at various points, taught "facts" like the following: that "Israel was
systematically torturing and killing Palestinian women." In fact, they were
using a curriculum, the Arab World Studies Notebook, paid for by Saudi
Arabia (this has since been dropped). The fight is ongoing (and going to
court), and I recommend the Tablet article, here
<https://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-news-and-politics/287733/teaching-high-school-students-to-demonize-israel>
.

And this was a problem too, in Illinois, where the Niles County District
was about to introduce a course for educators (!!!) called "Teaching
Palestine," which would be highly critical of Israel for its "occupation of
Palestine." It was dropped after pushback, but it's all part of a pattern.
You can read the background here

in the Jewish News Syndicate report.
