and could be the basics for a monthly course on rabbinic literature, Talmud and 
more


Try either of these two classics

A Rabbinic Anthology, edited by Montefiore and Loewe
which has been republished

or while more rabbinic material than just Talmud, lots more midrash, organized 
thematically
English translation of Sefer HaAggadah
Book of Legends, edited by Bialik (yup), and Ravnitsky
