The National Library of Israel has been creating and enriching authority records for printers of Judaica and Hebraica through 1830. In addition, NLI has created access points for printers on the bibliographic records of over two thirds of pre-1830 Hebrew-script resources.
The authority work is being produced as part of the I-TAL-YA Books project, a unique collaboration between UCEI, BNCR and NLI to help make the rich legacy of printed books in Italy appreciated by and accessible to researchers and historians across the world. It aims to protect, preserve and make accessible Italian Hebrew book holdings in Jewish communities and selected state collections through the creation of an online Union Catalogue of Hebrew books in Italy. NLI has helped develop a workflow process for implementing this ambitious project.
