I have worked with library disasters for decades here in Southern
California.  Most of the time, the best thing to do with moldy books is to
discard and replace them.  Mold grows very quickly and moves from one book
to the ones around it.  If you have books you cannot replace, you can get
rid of the mold, but it's expensive and probably not worth the expense with
a general collection.  As Jackie suggested, you can contact a professional
company who deals with mold, like Belfor, but it doesn't come cheap.  For
great information on mold, and any other library disaster, the best place
