The David Labkovski Project (DLP) advances knowledge of the Holocaust
through the art and life story of David Labkovski and teaches tolerance,
acceptance, inclusion and the importance of bearing witness to history.
Artist David Labkovski (1906-1991) documented history through paintings and
sketches. His work is a visual diary illustrating life before, during and
after the Holocaust, his experience as a prisoner in Siberia, and his
renewal in Israel.

Established as a nonprofit in 2016, the David Labkovski Project has
developed a multidisciplinary project-based curriculum that educates
students grade six through adult about the Holocaust and empowers them to
curate their own exhibits using Labkovski’s artwork. The DLP’s educational
programs and traveling exhibits combine history, art, critical thinking and
technology.

The DLP is seeking a Director of Education to lead and expand its
educational programming and curriculum. The position involves working with
middle and high school students both in-person and virtually, leading
courses online, and providing educational opportunities that complement the
exhibits.The position is located in Los Angeles with occasional travel.

Qualifications:

   - Teaching experience in middle school, high school, and/or college
   settings
   - Certified teacher with minimum 3 years teaching experience
   - Experience developing curriculum
   - Open to working with different and new applications of technology
   - General knowledge of 20th century history and the Holocaust
   - Some travel required
   - Ability to lift and carry easels and canvases
   - Flexibility to work some Sundays
   - Valid CA driver’s license - some driving required
   - Ability to multitask and work independently
   - Good public speaking skills
   - Detail oriented


Preferred Experience:

   - Familiarity with project-based learning
   - Research skills
   - Experience in use of art in educational curriculum
   - Ability to coordinate and develop relationships with educators,
   teachers, partners and schools.
