Dear Esteemed Librarians and Archivists,

Thank you all for sustaining our Jewish heritage and for your vital role in
Jewish scholarship.

I am an Emergency Medicine physician with a long-time research interest in
the history of Jewish medical training at the University of Padua in the 17
th-18th centuries. This year is the 800th anniversary of the university,
and I am working with the University of Padua and the Jewish Museum of
Padua on an exhibit this Fall on this historical chapter. I am also
producing a book which will include primarily two categories of archival
material from the period.

1) Medical Diplomas of Jewish Medical Graduates of the University of Padua-
I have thus far identified a total of 19 such diplomas.

2) Congratulatory Poems Composed for Jewish Medical Graduates of the
University of Padua- I have identified 100 such poems with over 90 extant.

I would like to include all known extant examples of the above. My research
has included the NLI, Valmadonna Trust (now part of the NLI), British
Library, Bodleian, Wellcome Institute, Vatican, University of Padua, JTS,
Kaufmann Collection in Budapest, UPenn, and Columbia University, but I
suspect I may be missing some examples.

If you possess any pre-modern Jewish medical diplomas (even if not from
Padua) or Congratulatory medical poems in your collections, or know of
others in private collections, I would be immensely appreciative if you
would be so kind as to contact me (info below).

With profound appreciation and thanks for your time and expertise,

Eddie Reichman
