Hello-

Please consider posting the following message on Ha-Safran listserv.

I am writing this message on behalf of a colleague who recently received an
extra copy of the following book below and wants to donate it to a Judaica
library. The book is in Hebrew.

If you would like the copy, please send me a message with your name and mailing
address; I am filtering the requests for the donor. First response will be
notified. The donor will pay for all the postage.

I hope you might be interested.

Anita Shapira, My Story, Memories, Am Oved 2022 (Hebrew)

Anita Shapira is the leading historian of Israel. She is a professor emerita of
Jewish History at Tel Aviv University. She is internationally known, has
published extensively and is widely recognized for her intellectual
contributions. Among her better-known works are the pathbreaking biography of
Berl Katznelson, the founder of Israel’s labor party and the volume Israel, A
History.

Anita Shapira is the recipient of many awards and distinctions including the
very prestigious Israel Prize in History in 2008.

Shapira was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1940. Two years later her mother, Felicia
Shtiser placed her in a convent in the hope of saving her life. Her mother was
murdered shortly thereafter, and her father, Boleslav, an officer in the Polish
army was killed during the war. This book is a memoir of her life, how she
found a new family, integrated into Israeli society and academic life and above
all – how she has persevered in the face of adversity and pain.

The book is riveting and documents the history of one child-survivor and her
path to integration into Israeli society.
