Kathy and I had lunch with Lessa this past spring, and we had a wonderful, eye-opening conversation on both sides. Sometimes, we just need to bring AJL to others' attention and explain why we need inclusion. I know we're disappointed by the exclusion from some groups, but this positive experience with Lessa is a huge step forward and is another stepping stone for those of us working in ALA. Sally has taken on a tremendous role on the EDI Assembly Steering Committee (or whatever it's new name is), and she's not even one of the liaisons! Thank you Sally. Kathy created our Schmooze and Nosh for several Annual and Midwinter conferences and moderated an incredibly successful AJL President's Program at ALA Annual, which we need to continue annually.
