Join author Susan Blumberg-Kason, who will talk about her book Bernardine's 
Shanghai Salon: The Story of the Doyenne of Old China (forthcoming, Post Hill 
Press, November 2023).

This biography of Bernardine Szold Fritz traces her experiences moving to and 
living in Shanghai in 1929 and her perspective as a Jewish salon host who 
engaged with Chinese and expats "around the arts as the civil war erupted and 
World War II loomed on the horizon."

Co-Presented by the Chinese American Librarians Association and the Association 
of Jewish Libraries in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month and Asian 
American and Pacific Islander Heritage month in the United States and Asian 
Heritage Month and Canadian Jewish Heritage Month in Canada in May.

JAHM 2023: Uncovering Jewish Collections at Public Libraries

Philadelphia. The conversation will feature Dr. Lyudmila Sholokhova, Curator of 
the Dorot Jewish Collection at New York Public Library; Tina Lernø, Librarian 
and Jewish American Heritage Month Coordinator for Los Angeles Public Library; 
Joseph Shemtov, Special Collections Coordinator for the Free Library of 
Philadelphia; and will be moderated by Michelle Margolis, the Norman E. 
Alexander Librarian for Jewish Studies at Columbia University and President of 
the Association of Jewish Libraries.
