You can use the book tape on the spine. If the tape isn’t wide enough, you can first overlay two strips, sticky side up, to create a wider strip. I believe you might even need three for a Etz Hayim humash. Make sure you make them long enough to turn it and have a half inch on the inside. You have to make slits in the piece you turn so you don’t tape up the text block. Demco and Talas sell book repair supplies. Don’t cover the whole book in laminate. Don’t use book tape on a rare book either! Hope this explanation was clear enough as I am writing this on the fly while traveling in Israel.
