Historically Jewish Book month was before and after Shavuot, SSCpl librarians wanted to have book fairs. Parents and grandparents bought books as Hanukkah gifts (adults too) so the JBC suggested to celebrate it during the month before Hanukkah.

Parents and grandparents bought books as Hanukkah gifts (adults too) so the JBC suggested to celebrate it during the month before Hanukkah. Regardless, you can choose a date that works for your institution.
I have been retired for a long time, but, I remember getting posters, book marks and lists of recommended books from the JBC.  It was very helpful.
