1. This is going to sound terrible, but as Weine hasn't been updated in
awhile and there are lots of cataloging gaps, sometimes I make up call numbers
and get them as close to an existing catalog number as I can.
For example, I ordered a bunch of the books that just came out about the war
with Hamas. The closest category in Weine is z950.26 (1983--; includes
intifada, Israel-PLO Recognition Treaty, Sept.3, 1993), so I created a category
called "Israel/Hamas war" and numbered it z950.27.
If Weine were to come out with an updated version (the one I have is from
1999!) then I would revise accordingly.

1. It is a very good question. There are several possibilities as I see it;
I have put a book in 260.1 The Synagogue but added the .1 to designate the Beit
HaMikdash. Then there are books about the archeology of the area which would be
in the 956 area according to Dewey or 901 or 955 Archaeology in Weine. O know
this is not a perfect answer. What are your thoughts?
