I responded directly to Aileen that I found 3 copies on Abebooks for about $25. I also looked at thriftbooks.com and betterworldbooks.com, which often sell books from libraries, but this title was not listed on either site. Emily

Sometime the price on Amazon is the cheapest price, but often it
is not. It isn't hard to search elsewhere. All you need to do is
plug in the URL of a metasearch engine that searches many other
sites. Try http://www.addall.com/used.
I found this book for much less than
$200 in seconds. It isn't always the case, but quite often it is.
The lesson here is, NEVER START A
BOOKSEARCH on the AMAZON website. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. You may end
up there in the end and that is OK. Amazon has a stranglehold on
online retail. I'm not telling you to be loyal to the booksellers
on this listserve. That has been a lost cause for 10-20 years at
least. I'm just asking you to serve your own interests.
That said, there are a lot of people
out there selling books like widgets. They have no idea of their
real value. If they can't find comparables they just put some
insane price on the book and imagine that they deserve that
because of the scarcity that they (often falsely) perceive. Or
they let a computer price the book. It is frustrating. These
#$#$%$@#@s are the gifts of the internet to you. Don't reward
them. They don't know or care about books and couldn't care less
about Judaism.
Sorry for the tone. Just a little
frustration seeping out.
All the best,
Henry Hollander (Believe it or not, a
rabbi)
