The AJL Jewish Fiction Award Committee is seeking two new members. This is an
exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant field of contemporary
Jewish fiction, to connect with and learn from a group of wise and committed
colleagues, and to honor outstanding writers. Members will serve through the
June 2028 AJL conference.
We are looking for avid readers who …
enjoy reading literary fiction
feel comfortable expressing an opinion about what they’ve read beyond “I liked
it” or “I didn’t like it”
are willing to commit the time to read 20+ books in a 12-month period
live in the United States or Canada
are current members of AJL
will attend periodic committee meetings (via Zoom) and all AJL conferences
during their term
will assist the committee chair in preparing for and presenting the fiction
committee sessions at the annual conference
Past or current book review experience or involvement a book discussion group
is a plus.
