#79: Not clear how to install on ubuntu from http://hackage.haskell.org/platform/ ----------------------------------------+----------------------------------- Reporter: hakim.cassima...@gmail.com | Owner: Type: defect | Status: new Priority: major | Milestone: Component: (none-specified) | Keywords: ----------------------------------------+----------------------------------- I'm assuming http://hackage.haskell.org/platform/ is the main landing page for the project. (If I'm wrong, please let me know where I should start and reject this ticket!)
I'm on Ubuntu, but the ubuntu bullet under "Linux" is not linked. So I try Debian. The link there is to http://wiki.debian.org/Haskell/Platform which looks like a project plan. I'm not clear how to install from there. I consider the source option: however the tarball notes say "Note: the source tarball requires that you already have ghc-6.10.3 (or 6.10.4) installed." This is no good, as the Ubuntu Jaunty repos only have ghc-6.8... I believe I can (somehow - not quite clear on details) track down and install ghc 6.10.4 from the debian repos, after which I can then use the source installer to get the platform stuff. But I thought I'd let you know, as this experience so far isn't "batteries included" ;-) -- Ticket URL: <http://trac.haskell.org/haskell-platform/ticket/79> haskell-platform <http://trac.haskell.org/haskell-platform> The Haskell Platform: a comprehensive and robust collection of Haskell libraries _______________________________________________ Haskell-platform mailing list Haskell-platform@projects.haskell.org http://projects.haskell.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/haskell-platform
