Missing on this list (although it's related to "Completion of Hugs' IO
module") is:
**
Implementing GHC's Posix library for Hugs
Category Hugs
Description:
GHC's Posix library is very useful. Hugs would be much more useful if
this functionality was available.
Spec:
GHC's Posix library.
Implementation:
Required skills: Hugs FFI?
**
This also reminds me of a more general point, which is that Hugs
currently has significantly inferior functionality to GHC [see
postings on 26 Aug on the Haskell list], and this means the nice model
of `do iterative development on Hugs, and compile with GHC when
working' cannot be used. I know that the Hugs/GHC merger will solve
this eventually, but it's worth adding to the list.
A side point: how about giving the wish list items short codes, so
they can be referred to by code rather than full name? They could be
just sequence numbers, but perhaps something more mnemonic would be
better.
Thanks heaps for taking this on, Sven!
